JUERGEN PISTRACHER OF AUSTRIA WINS INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR CATTLE PHOTO

INTERLAKEN, Switzerland (August 15, 2024)—Juergen Pistracher of Austria was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Photography, the organization’s honor for the best photograph in its worldwide competition. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Interlaken, Switzerland, on August 15.

Judges highlighted the skill behind Pistracher’s photo, “First Milk, Then Paint”, noting that it is “technically superb with stop action on the grain and smile.”

“Juergen Pistracher’s photo illustrates perfectly the ability of a skilled photographer to capture the emotion and action of a moment in time,” notes Addy Rossi, IFAJ secretary-general. “It is truly world-class agricultural journalism.”

John Eveson of the United Kingdom received a runner-up Star Prize for Photography for “Aberdeen Angus Beef Cattle in Scotland.”

Judges of the Print category included Janice Thoroughgood of Canada, Johnnie Belinda Cluff of New Zealand and Greg Lamp of the United States.
