TREVOR BACQUE OF CANADA WINS INTERNATIONAL PRIZE FOR POTATO STORY
INTERLAKEN, Switzerland (August 15, 2024)—Trevor Bacque of Canada was recognized by the International Federation of Agricultural Journalists (IFAJ) with its Star Prize for Digital Media, the organization’s honor for the best digital media reporting in its worldwide competition. The award was announced at IFAJ’s World Congress in Interlaken, Switzerland, on August 15.
Bacque’s piece, “Potatoes from Farm to Table,” was posted by Canadian Food Focus (canadianfoodfocus.org). Judges said Bacque provided, “a lively and engaging story delivered with layers of information consumers or schools might need.”
“Trevor’s reporting delivers important insights using a wide range of tools brought together on a digital platform to give audiences a full experience,” notes Addy Rossi, IFAJ secretary-general. “It is a great example of the power of excellent reporting and skillful use of the digital format.”
Freelance journalist Jessica Ahedor of Ghana received a runner-up Star Prize for Digital Media for “Soaring Prices And Dwindling Farm Yields Drive Growing Hunger in Ghana”
Judges for the Star Prize for Digital Media were documentary filmmaker Ian Petrie, retired from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation; Ken Rundle of Scottish Agricultural College; and freelancer and former Australian Broadcasting Corporation journalist Prue Adams.
