The Network of Agricultural Communicators (NAC) in The Gambia held a two-day capacity-building training for agricultural reporters August 6 and 7. The program, titled Agriculture Reporting and Communication Networking, was held in the Pakalinding Jarra West district in Gambia.
The training was funded by the Danish Civil Society through the Gambia Press Union.
“The capacity-building training will provide continuity in building the capacity of our member journalists and farmer organisations on skills in agriculture reporting, which can increase farmers’ opportunity for their voices to be heard and increase their yield,” said Seedy Darboe, NAC treasurer.
The program’s principal trainers were Lamin Fadera, chairman of the National Alliance for Food Security and Ebou Jorbateh from Gambia’s agricultural extension service.
Nineteen agriculture reporters from print, electronic media and members of farmer organisations participated in the training. The intention was to build the capacity of the participants to enable them to specialise in agriculture reporting.
